Van and Reefer Rates Hold While Flatbed Prices Climb
Apr 22 – 28 – Rates didn’t show much movement during the last full week of April, but volumes are building as we get deeper into spring. Last week the national average van and reefer rates were unchanged, while the flatbed rate increased 1¢ per mile. Still, compared to March averages, April van rates are 1¢ higher, reefer rates are 2¢ higher, and flatbed rates are 12¢ higher. The flatbed load-to-truck ratio has exceeded 100 loads per truck for five weeks in a row.
