Capacity Loosens, but Shortages Remain
Jun 17 – 23 – Capacity continues to return slowly to the spot market, but trucks are still in short supply in many parts of the country. That’s kept freight rates high, and the national average van rate pushed into uncharted territory at $2.31 per mile. The national reefer rate remained at a record high of $2.70 per mile. The national flatbed rate dipped 1¢, and while demand remains elevated, the load-to-truck ratio dropped to its lowest level since late February.
