Cheaper fuel and extra capacity keep rates down

Jan 20 – 26 – The national average van rate dropped below the $2 per mile mark for the first time since September 2017. Falling fuel surcharges and increased capacity in the spot market are putting downward pressure on rates, as average reefer and flatbed prices also moved lower.
